AFRICAN PANORAMA
By Joseph Gbaba, Sr.

God is quietly sitting on his golden throne
High above the deep blue sky
And above the Atlantic, Mounts Gedeh and Wologizi
And his winged seraphs are chanting their sonorous alleluia chorus
And watching over you and me
Their melodious voices can be heard
From the shores of Lakes Shepherd and Piso
And from the sandy beaches of Grand Kru and Sinoe
In this light Liberia will be liberated in due course
And at his appointed time and venue
God shall make the enemies
Of the Liberian people their footstools!

This shall certainly come to pass
Because when a trophy
That belongs to peacemakers
Is awarded to warmongers,
Then the actual title of the Nobel Peace Prize should be:
The Nobel Rebel War Crime Prize!
Indeed in this light
Then it may be awarded to a Liberian warlord
Ellen the Magnificent Johnson-Sirleaf
Africa’s First Female warlord!

Hence, in the name of Christ
We revoke you, Jezebel!
We say:
“Get thee gone from our shores
Go and live in Oslo, Norway
Where war criminals are awarded
The Nobel Peace Prize
When warlords slaughtered their own people!”

But be you mindful
We will no longer condone rebel activities in our midst
Neither will Liberians continue to be held hostage
By warmongers the West Claims are ‘peacemakers’
But we will seek justice and peace through the rule of law!

Ellen may be well liked by the West
but then it is obvious
the Westerners will juke fingers
In your eyes in broad daylight
once they find a true puppet to answer
"Yes sir" and kiss their behinds!
And that is what Ellen is:
A "Yes sir" and “kiss behind” Noko for the West!

Nevertheless we who are patriotic sons
And daughters of the soil
Shall never relent
But we will keep pressing harder and harder,
Trusting the Great Jehovah our God above shall redeem us

He shall provide us a new leader
One who does not purchase weapons
To destroy what he or she cannot create or fix.
Indeed, God will provide us
A creative and fearless and upright leader
One who will call a spade a spade
And who will put square pegs in square holes
And round pegs in round holes!

Therefore, we urge all Liberians in Liberia
To heed the national clarion call
Be brave and stand up for what you believe
For we will forever be by your side
For the message is spreading far and wide
That a new day has come in Liberia
Where freedom, justice, and peace will live side by side
And the oppressors and Nobel War Crime recipients
Shall be locked up
In their dungeons in prison cells
After due process is served them

Truly, Liberians can certainly benefit
From a very good educational system
One that reflects the body politic
And history of her people
But how can our people
Get the education they desire
When Ellen hates the enlightened
Blocks the way of those
Who have the power to make a difference
When it comes to “SO” and “GO”!

Hence, no doubt it is clear
Ellen cannot last six more years
For her popularity is going
On a downward trend!
Therefore, she must pack her satogas
And leave our Foreign Ministry that Doe built!
For the money Oslo gave her
To rebuild what she destroyed
She and her cohorts and Norwegians have pocketed!

Thus, this is our blessed prayer
In the name of Christ Jesus
And in the name of the over 350,000
who lost their lives
Including the amputee war victims
Who braved the storm to tell their story
That the victory is not won
Until the Lord makes our enemies our footstools
For the Liberian man says:
"Ninety-nine days for rogue
But one day for master!"

And so someday soon the day will come
When the wind of change shall blow across the land
And when the Rebel War Crime Prize recipients
Shall truly be delivered to The Hague
For prosecution by Counselors Winston Tubman,
Frederick Jayweh and Jerome Verdier
And other stalwart Liberian legal practitioners
In the supreme interest of the Liberian people
For justice may be delayed
But justice cannot be denied!

And all Liberians shall shout with exceeding great joy
As we say:
“To hell with the Nobel Rebel War Crime Prize
For it is a mockery of the sanctity of human life!
We value the life God gave us
Therefore we will do everything
Humanly possible to protect it!
And this is our humble prayer
In the blessed name of Yaweh!
Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen!
